FDP on Integrated Village Development at Remote Centre KCGRPI, Pandoga

The Village Development Programme of NABARD envisages integrated and holistic development of villages in consultation with village communities, with convergence of various development programmes of the Government and NABARD. VDPs are implemented by partnering with NGOs or other agencies. It lays emphasis on participatory planning, and convergence of various development programmes to bring about overall development of the village in a period of 3 years. The programme was completed in 811 villages in its first phase. The second phase of the programme covers 1,068 villages spread across 25 states. VDP interventions in several villages have visibly impacted the lives and living standards of the Village Community across the country. Some such success stories include Kapurtunga Village, Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh, Irlapadu Village in Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh and Kalliganur Village, Gadag district in Karnataka. Salient interventions and impacts in these Villages included: Comprehensive soil testing and recommended crop specific package of practices covering 100 to 150 farm fields in each village Skill development programmes on crop specific package of practices, Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) / Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Organic Farming, use of certified seeds, Nursery Development, promotion of SRI Etc., led to considerable knowledge building of Village community Changes in cropping pattern, improved seed replacement, use of low cost compost/ vermi compost led to reduction in cost of cultivation from 10 to 20%. Productivity in the majority of the villages for lead crops improved between 20 % to 40 % and income enhancement ranged from 30 % to 50%. Promotion of Allied sector livelihood activities under Dairy, Poultry, Fisheries and Off farm sector activities like cloth painting, embroidery, carpentry, petty business, Kirana shops.etc. Formation/ revival of Dairy Co-operatives / Milk Collection Centres, rural marketing outlets & market linkages. 100 % financial inclusion beginning with opening of No Frill accounts, issue of KCC to all farmers, access to investment

credit and issue of GCC. Convergence under VDP with Grama Panchayats and district administration led to Infrastructure development and Social impacts. Health Camps, Literacy and educational activities,

To meet this objective, KC Group of Research and Professional Institutes, Pandoga Una (HP) in collaboration with NITTTR Chandigarh successfully organized an online FDP on Climate change , disaster management and Sustainable development from 25th April 2022 to 29 April 2022. All Faculty members from different colleges of KCGI, Pandoga participated in this FDP.
