Guest lecture On BASICS OF CHEMISTRY WITH SCOPE at KC Polytechnic College Nawanshahr

"The expert in anything, once was a beginner"- Mr.Anil Kumar

As a part of the activity of innovation/project Lab the department of Applied Science Organised an extension lecture by Mr. Anil Kumar on the topic of "BASICS OF CHEMISTRY WITH SCOPE" on 25-Feb-2020 under the guidance of Principal R.K. Moom. All the students of 2nd semester in Applied Science Department attended the lecture. In his address Mr. Anil Kumar delivered lecture on basics of chemistry with scope. He told that Chemistry can be grouped into five major branches. These are Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry. He told that Chemistry is very important because it helps us to know the composition, structure & changes of matter. All the matters are made up of chemistry. He told that definition of "matter" is based on its physical and chemical structure is: matter is made up of atoms. Such atomic matter is also sometimes termed ordinary matter. As an example, deoxyribonucleic acid molecules (DNA) are matter under this definition because they are made of atoms. This definition can be extended to include charged atoms and molecules, so as to include plasmas (gases of ions) and electrolytes (ionic solutions), which are not obviously included in the atoms definition. Alternatively, one can adopt the protons, neutrons, and electrons definition. In this lecture , students gain basic knowledge of Chemistry and its scope. He told that in chemistry, pH is a scale used to specify how acidic or basic a water-based solution is. Acidic solutions have a lower pH, while basic solutions have a higher pH. At room temperature (25°C or 77°F), pure water is neither acidic nor basic and has a pH of 7. The pH scale is logarithmic and inversely indicates the concentration of hydrogen ions in the solution (a lower pH indicates a higher concentration of hydrogen ions.

On this occasion Er. R.K Moom (Principal), Er. Parwinder Kumar( Vice Principal), Er. Ram Lubhya(HOD CSE), Ms. Namita (HOD Applied Science) , Lect. Jatinder Kaur, Lect. Manpreet Kaur were also present in this lecture.
